How it works

  1. Upload your PDF. Visual thumbnails of your pages will load below.
  2. Customize your settings. Pick your position, format, font size, and color. Drag the margin slider to move numbers closer to or further from the page border.
  3. Verify the preview. The thumbnails will update in real-time to show you where and how the numbers will land.
  4. Click "Add Page Numbers." The tool embeds the text vectors client-side and downloads the numbered PDF instantly.

Common questions

Will this rasterize or degrade my PDF pages?

No. The tool uses pdf-lib to draw vector text directly into the page's existing content stream. It keeps the text selectable, maintains the original page resolution, and does not affect images or formatting.

Can I customize where the page numbers are placed?

Yes. You can choose from six positions (top/bottom, left/center/right) and adjust the margin slider to move the numbers closer to or further away from the edges.

Is my document processed locally?

Yes. Like all FileSwift utilities, the entire process happens inside your browser's local memory. No files are uploaded to any external servers.
